IOS in the 'The Restoration and Representation of Historical Memory'
The conference is an extension of the Oral History Project of Political Prisoners under Authoritarianism. The three-year project (2008-2011), conducted by the Taiwan Association for Truth and Reconciliation, has trained 94 young people, mostly college & graduate students majored in history and social sciences, to interview more than 200 former political prisoners. The working experience and the testimonies collected are invaluable for the understanding the history of the "White Terror" era, and for the promotion of transitional justice in Taiwan as well. The conference, organized by Professor Naiteh Wu, was co-sponsored by the Association and the Institute of Sociology in Academia Sinica and held at the building of the latter institute on March 16, 2012.
